- Hi Folks. I've been rummaging around on our A3000's WB 3.1 set-up disks;
- no particular reason - I just do things like that once in a blue moon.
- (Betcha you do the same now and then - eh? ;-) ) In so doing, an old
- curiosity has been reawakened:
-
- On the WB 3.1 install disk there is a program called 'HDSetup'. Now,
- 'HDToolbox' also resides on that disk in the 'HDTools' dir. So, what's
- the difference between these programs. As far as I can tell from reading
- the 'HDSetup' scripts, it seems to do the same things 'HDToolbox' does -
- so why have the two proggies on that disk in the first place? Why not
- just 'HDToolbox'? After all, 'HDToolbox' can configure hard-drives just
- fine - why the duplication?
-
- Is there something I'm not seeing here? Some subtle yet crucial
- difference between the two that a particular OS/hard-drive installation
- circumstance may call for?
-
- BTW, I can find no reference to 'HDSetup' in the WB 3.1 manuals, nor the
- WB 2.x manual. (We keep the older WB 2.x manual, that wonderful, heavy,
- clamp-bound, 'Using the System Software' tome, as that has an excellent
- 'HDToolbox' section - sadly, something the WB 3.1 manuals lack.)
-
- This post is not of crucial import - between the great mysteries of
- Birth and Death, the tiniest speck of a matter really. However, it's
- kinda like the way a car enthusiast likes to bone up on the genesis of
- the mirror-mount grommets on a sparkling, re-conditioned, '57 Chevy...
- keeps you awake at night... know the feeling? ;-)
-
- Can anyone shed some light on the above? (No, not the '57 Chevy's
- mirror-mount grommets - Malaysian rubber via Dunlop I believe. ;-) )
-
-
- Cheers, Tony McKee
